Painting

Take a moment to paint your Shapeoko before you assemble it. I know, you want to get to it right away, but you'll appreciate the results and it will protect the metal. It only takes about an hour with the right paint.

I used flat black textured spray paint as seen here:

You only need to paint 5 plates: the 3 carriages and the 2 end plates.

1. Scrub down the plates with dry, fine, non-soap steel wool to remove any corrosion and oil
2. Wipe the plates clean with paper towels
3. Spray paint 2 light coats per side, allowing time to dry between coats and before flipping the parts over

That's it.
