Any chance to buy ShapeOko somewhere else?

Is there( or will be) any possibility to buy Shapeoko sooner than Inventables offers?
The lead time (70 days) is quite long for us. We would like to test the machine as soon as possible and check if there is any demand in our country so that we can start selling Shapeoko in our country together with our products.

Not anymore - Edward is completing the backlog he has and then from now on it's all through Inventables, but to quote Ross when this came up in the mailing list last week:

There is nothing stopping you from trying to get the makerslide, bearings etc. you need from the makerslide store (which is very hard to do). All you really "need" that is custom are the mounting plates, which I believe you can download the files for and get them cut for you locally. Self sourcing will be cheaper but may not be faster.

I already contacted MakerSlide but still waiting for the reply.
Are there any drawings( not only pictures) for the mounting plates?

The dxf files for all of the custom parts are currently being updated.

Yesterday I posted a new BoM (Bill of Materials) on the downloads page of the website and haven't gotten around to posting the DXF files. Look for them later today.

How much tension are the end plates under? Obviously you want them metal if possible... but I'm already considering how I can ramp up mine to a larger size. Upgrading both axis' requires new plates. And I have a laser with which I can make acrylic plates. 1/4" acrylic is pretty strong. I wonder if thats strong enough for the end plates?

I'd imagine it would work, depending on what you are cutting, and how you fasten the machine to the worktable/platform. Another option may be to use Misumi extrusions like a 20x40.

This is the route I'm thinking of taking also. Connecting the makerslide and the Misumi together should be easy enough and very strong.
