Spindle Alternative for 230V

Hi at all.
I'm very exciting about this project and gonna order the mechanical kit for my first CNC experience.
I've all the electric parts here but have question about a good spindle alternative for here in austria (230V).
DrRob had suggested this spindle for the standard spindle mount:

This looks ok for first tests. Has anyone experience with that?

And what is now the standard delivered spindlemount:

My main concern with the Silverline one is that the little button you press in to "lock" the spindle while tightening or loosening the collet is made out of soft cheese (or similar) and I fear it may not last long. And when the tip sheers off, it will be stuck inside.

That Silverline spindle is exactly the spindle that I use on my machine and the one I sent out with the kickstarter kits (obviously mine is the 120v version). I'm not sure what the true name of it is, but you'll find it rebranded all over the place under different names/colors.

Mine has been in use since around October and I have yet to have a problem with it. The 'lock' button isn't 'soft cheese' on mine (or any that I've sent out) so maybe there is a difference between the 120v and 240v versions?

I've been telling people that for the money (about $15USD) it's a good choice to get cutting. Once mine breaks, or I'm sick of the noise, I'll probably move on to something else, but I think it's a good starter spindle.

Which one will we get?

@jb77 Thanks for bringing it up again.

The mounts will be like the one's shown in the renders on the inventables page. They're a plastic (UHMW or Delrin or HDPE, yet to be decided) and have proven to work very well.

which Spindle did you choose and where did you buy it?
I'm from Germany and I'm still searching for a spindle that fits the standard mount (and is available in Germany).

Hi Micha,
You can use a dremel or proxxon tool.
They will both fit.
