Need Spindle Mount DREMEL

Postby RedOko » Thu Apr 12, 2012 7:00 pm

I have a dremel 4000 and was looking if anybody have a plan for the mounting that they have tried or seen.

I found this one for a dremel 300

Yes, they are, but did you find the DXF file.

I did something similar with a 1/8 lexan for the bottom part but the bit looks a bit sideways.

I have a 4000 and a Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-220-01-Rotary-Tool-Station/dp/B00068P48O
I called the Dremel support center and ordered an extra mount and am working to use it to mount to my shapeOko.

Hi John,

is that thing stable enough for milling? I have a Dremel 300 over here and that Drill Station too, but it's a little wobbly.
Maybe I just disassemble it to harvest the part as soon as my ShapeOko is here.

I'm just wondering if anyone found, or has since drawn up files for a dremel 4000 mount. I'm about to start drawing one up and just wanted to check I wasn't doing it unnecessarily.

I've been using the stock mounts --- it's a tight fit, but seems to work --- that said, I have been thinking it'd be good to create a set of mount files --- esp. if we could write it up as a tutorial for the wiki.

My stock mounts work great, although it's always a bit tricky to get the tool perfectly vertical.
Anyway they will never be as good as a set of custom mounts.

At the moment the mounts put pressure on the front and back of the tool, squeezing it far more than I would like.
Also, custom mounts would be able to hold the tool right down at the collar, which has got to be more stable.
I was considering adding a dust shoe as well, but I think my machine's too small to bother.

Anyway it sounds like no one's done any yet, so as soon as I find a new CAD program, that doesn't make me want to tear my haro out, I'll draw some up.
