Should we do anything special to welcome the new Inventables-ShapeOko owners to the community? e.g. Do we need to add/clarify anything in the wiki?

Still looking for a dimensional drawing or file to reference the end plates. I still haven't found anything on the wiki or main site.

Until Edward has time to make proper drawings, you can download the 3D model..

....15 minutes later..... I found the github with the 3D Model: https://github.com/shapeoko/shapeoko

Nice, Edward, can you post or check the inventor file and not just the stp file?

Yes, I will do a pack and go of the model in the next few days. I've been working really hard on an assembly guide, and as such decided to make a bunch of new sub-assembly models to accommodate a more straight forward work flow.

Once I get the documentation done, and I'm happy with the model, I'll put it up for grabs.

On a related note: I've been learning FreeCAD in my spare time and I'd really like to migrate the model (parts, drawings, presentation views, and assemblies) over to the FreeCAD format. It's much more difficult to use than Autodesk Inventor, but it's Open Source and would give everyone the opportunity to add/edit/contribute to the design process. So, in my opinion it would be worth the struggle.

The good part is two fold:
1.) I already have DXF files for *ALL* of the parts. And step files for *ALL* of the parts. So, a lot of it could be imported directly.
2.) *If* we can get enough people to volunteer, it could go by pretty quickly.

So... does anyone care to volunteer?

why not make a section in the wiki, and create a table with the part name, description, material, DXF file, and then as people model the parts, the last column could be FreeCAD files. That way people can model one or two parts and upload them to the wiki.

I've got FreeCAD, but it's a bit different than what I usually use (Catia and Solidworks at work).
