Super Shapeoko #302 Build Status and Log

Hello all! I am well into my shapeoko build now and have opted for many upgrades. I am using Nema 23 Dual motor for y axis and, Proxxon spindle, extended bed, and some other upgrades for cable management. Have a gander at my pics of the robot so far and I will be happy to answer any questions!

I am particularly happy with how my spindle mount turned out. It is incredibly rigid and was easy to assemble!

I picked 10x15mm and it will fit me just right with the shielded cable i am using (http://www.ebay.com/itm/270995960724). Though a lil bigger like the 10x20 would be a good pick too.

I forgot to mention i call it super shapeoko because i have a nice superman decal to apply when done. It fits the color scheme nicely!

Your build looks great, what length makerslide are you using for your two extended axis? I am trying to find the optimum size, I am currently thinking 500 cm y and 500 cm x.

62cm is the size i ended up with after using a 2m stick of makerslide to build and ORD hadron and extend the y axis for shapeoko. To maximize my materials, i ended up using the old shapeoko axis parts as the z axis for the ord hadron. NICE!

Man, I saw those cable carrier things at a 3D printer conference this weekend. I thought it was awesome they were printing their own! I always thought those things were probably super expensive as I've only seen them on industrial robots. I guess they are reasonably priced. I'll have to pick some up!

In my opinion the printed ones are a cool novelty, but with the price of filament, it is much much much cheaper and easier to just buy the carriers.

Hey gazorp-- I am looking into the same spindle mount for my Proxxon IB/E (for my not-yet-existent machine). Did you just order another carriage plate to bolt it onto? Were there other things you had to do in order to use the mount?

Any other thoughts now that you've had it for a while?
